Now that weddings are well and truly back on the agenda, cake designers are busy fielding requests for meetings, be it via Zoom or in person. Of course, when planning for one’s nuptials, the latter is preferred, and many have taken the necessary precautions to meet in person so that ideas can be exchanged more freely and effectively.

Some pertinent issues to discuss would include the following :
- Picking from a portfolio of creations or having one custom designed.
- The price points and necessary budget to be set aside.
- How many guests to cater for if the cake is to be served.
- Thematic considerations, especially if there is a wedding theme to adhere to.
- Are there any colours to be incorporated into the design.
- The variety of flavours that couples can choose from.
- The type of frosting that is most suited to the couple’s palate whilst taking into consideration the location of the celebration too, for example, butter frosting may not be a wise choice for an outdoor wedding where heat and humidity may be of concern.

Other considerations :
- Delivery and setting up of the cake on the wedding day.
- Is the cake designer also able to provide a dessert buffet if necessary?
- Are edible wedding favours an option? What about hantaran cakes?
