Wedding Planning & Budget

Budget No-Nos!

It is fair to say that every couple has different priorities when it comes to wedding budgets. Some have deeper pockets while others hope to keep their wedding spending to a minimum. What is important however regardless of budgets, is that couples appoint vendors that offer the following without compromise :

  • Quality.
  • Professionalism.
  • A memorable experience.

If one researches thoroughly – magazines, the Internet are good starting points; so are recommendations from friends – it is not impossible to locate creative and reliable service providers who offer more affordable options. In many instances, they are able to do so because :

  • They have less overheads by virtue of being an owner-operator.
  • They provide packages which are no-frills whilst providing couples the opportunity of adding-on to the packages if required.

Avoid the following at all costs :

  • Getting into debt because of your wedding.
  • Comparing your wedding budget to those of your friends. Do what feels right for you and your partner.
  • Thinking ‘it’s just a little bit more’. Remember, it all adds up!
  • Wanting to throw a big party just for ‘face’.
  • Procrastinating during sample sales, promotion periods and the like. If you like the dress or feel the photography package is value-for-money, buy it and sign on the dotted line.
  • Wanting the best of everything. Sometimes, compromise and trade-offs are needed.
