Planned Posing

Now that it is possible for us to travel again, either domestically or internationally, soon-to-be-weds can really start putting on their creative hats to plan for their pre-wedding shoots. For those who prefer to have such images documented in their home city, it is even easier to navigate such a process, whereas for those who may wish to travel interstate or abroad, choices are once again aplenty, albeit with a bit more planning work involved.

We hope some of these images will act as a catalyst to perhaps whet your appetite for pre-wedding shoots. It is an opportunity for couples to document interesting images in the lead up to their wedding day as well as a chance for photographers to put to test their creative and artistic skills.

Issues to consider would include :

  • Cost.
  • Lead time required to have the photos ready by the wedding day.
  • Indoor vs outdoor locations.
  • Local vs overseas venues.
  • Duration of shoot.
  • How many changes of attire.
  • Deliverables in terms of number images and medium of delivery.

Some other issues to contemplate during the planning stage :

  • Any SOPs that need to be adhered to for local as well as destination shoots.
  • For overseas travel, what the entry requirements are for the countries that are on your shortlist.
  • Are there any promotional room rates being offered by hotels and resorts at your intended destination?
  • Is your photographer travelling with you exclusively or will there be other couples included in the trip to share costs?
  • Will a makeup artist be travelling together with you or will one be hired at the location of the shoot?

Look into the following details as well :

  • If you are intending to have custom attire designed for the shoot, be sure to check on lead time for delivery.
  • Do you hope to showcase the images from the shoot at your wedding reception? If so, in what manner i.e. audio visual and/or printed images?
